Enter Cousin Joey
When I was a child, I was a biter. If anyone got too close to me, I would bite them – that is, until I met my cousin Joey who was also a biter.
I can still remember the moment when it dawned on my two year old self that biting actually hurt, and it hurt bad!
Up to that point I hadn’t realized how much it actually hurt the person on the receiving end of the bite.
I had only been aware of how it made me feel.
It was a tension release and it worked really well to get someone to leave me alone.
Biting for me had been a form of self-defense, and I’m really not sure why I felt like I needed to defend my self at such a young age. It was the only method I had for creating boundaries, and it was very effective.
I must have come in to this world as a fighter because around the age of 10 I was into seeking revenge!
If someone had hurt me, I would plot and scheme of ways that I could hurt them back. And then one day, I realized that revenge was dumb and that I was only creating more of the meanness by seeking revenge, and ending up hurting myself even more as my enemy was also seeking revenge upon me.
It was a vicious circle. So, I stopped.
Life is just a series of trial and error.
Have you ever wondered why we are put here on this earth only to be tested and tried?
Here we are on this planet, not really given any set of rules except by our parents, schools, or religious organizations, and who says they’ve got it all right?
We are given a free will, the ability to reason and self correct, and a bunch of Universal Laws, like the law of cause and effect, which most people don’t completely understand or choose to ignore altogether.
So how can we begin to live an optimal life when we are flailing in the dark?
Do we have to wait for the cousin Joeys of the world to come along and teach us our life lessons?
And how can we learn every thing there is to learn to have an optimal life when every time we turn around something else is going wrong that totally distracts us?
Bills need to be paid, kids get sick, loved ones die, we lose our jobs, the money runs out, we’re always fighting, etc. etc. etc.
And then on top of all of that , the world is in turmoil, the tabloids splash the worlds troubles, other people’s troubles, and someone says it’s all fake!
So, who do we turn to?
Who do we believe?
Who can we trust?
What can we do to find our truths? our True North?
Dear Ones ~
We can turn to that inner still voice that resides in all of us.
We can look for the light, our inner guiding light that is constantly burning.
We can ignite this flame with our love, our devotion, and ask it to guide us, to pour the light into the darkness.
Imagine a situation in your life right now that may seem dark and foreboding…
Notice all of the thoughts in your mind as you think about it.
What are you noticing?
Are you angry?
Do you feel resentment?
Are you blaming someone else?
Did you make a mistake?
Was it something that you wanted but didn’t get?
Are you thinking why me? Poor me?
Are you dwelling on the past on what could have been?
Now try to strip all of those thoughts away so that you are just raw unto yourself.
Take a moment to do this…
Are you quieter now?
Stay with that for a couple of minutes.
If something else keeps coming in, pay attention to it, then strip it away and become raw again.
Now say to that person or situation, I love you, I’m sorry, Please forgive me, thank you!
Keep repeating it until you feel the emotions that come up for you.
Take some deep cleansing breaths.
By doing this you can reconnect to the love in every situation.
You still may not understand why it happened. That may come later.
You may have to repeat the exercise again if necessary.
By finding the love in every situation, you will come back to your center.
You will shed light into the darkness of your soul.
You will carry more light inside you and will attract more miracles into your life.
The cousin Joeys will begin to dissipate.
Darkness cannot penetrate light.
You will be walking the path of love.
Love and Light.
As you work on bringing more light in, and turning to your inner small voice your life will change for the better, and your path will become clear.
Live righteously and love everyone, you will build up around you an aura of light and love ~ Yogi tea tab
